This unglazed yunomi comes from Sankoan Kiln in Bizen City, Okayama — one of Japan's oldest pottery traditions. Fired in a wood-burning kiln without glaze, each piece develops its own surface through direct contact with ash and flame, resulting in the subtle variations of deep red and charcoal that make every cup entirely one of a kind.
Upright and unadorned, it warms slowly and holds temperature well — a natural companion for matcha or sencha.
